Law Offices of Randolph Rice Scholarship 2019

Here at the Law Offices of Randolph Rice, we understand that the leaders of tomorrow are working and often sacrificing to receive an education today. That’s why in 2016 we launched our annual Law Offices of Randolph Rice Scholarship. The purpose is to award a $1,500 scholarship each year to a deserving student to apply towards college costs and help that student realize his or her potential.

THE 2019 INFOGRAPHIC SCHOLARSHIP
For 2019 we’re asking for Infographic submissions as the basis for the scholarship. In today’s world of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, social media has become a prominent destination for people to acquire new information.

According to www.journalism.org, 38% of adults obtain their news online, while 28% rely on social media or online applications. It’s not a secret that the modern news reader prefers easy and readily available information, such as infographics.

For this reason, we are encouraging students to develop a new skill that can be applied during college or future career.

STEP 1. THE 2019 TOPIC
Using data from government, private agencies or non-profits, create an infographic that tells your story. Choose a topic of your choice related to the following idea:

Injuries in America: Examine a dangerous aspect of life and how things have improved since a law change or regulation.

STEP 2. SELECT YOUR RESOURCE OF INFORMATION
Some sites where data is readily available that can be used are for these topics are:

Prevention Institute – https://www.preventioninstitute.org
You are not limited by these site, if you find a reputable source and want to use that data, that is permissible.

STEP 3. CHOOSE A PLATFORM TO CREATE YOUR INFOGRAPHIC

STEP 4: SUBMIT YOUR INFOGRAPHIC
In order to participate, applicants must submit their infographic as an attachment, along with the information outlined below to ricelawmdscholarship@gmail.com by May 1, 2019, 9 AM EST:

The applicant’s name & email address
Proof of matriculation or enrollement for the fall of 2019;
The applicant’s major or intended area of study; and
Applicant’s curriculum vitae.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
In order to be eligible to participate in the contest, applicants must be a current or prospective college student for Fall of 2019. This includes rising sophomores, juniors or seniors who are enrolled at a four-year institution of higher learning, or a high school senior who has committed to attend an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall. Applicants must also comply with all requirements set forth above.

Once the application period has ended, our scholarship committee will review the essays and choose a winner by May 15, 2019. The winner will be chosen considering the following factors:

Originality;
Creativity; and
Proper use of sources.
The winner’s check will be issued directly to the student’s college / university of choice.

Only one winner will be selected. In the event that the winner fails to respond to notification within 7 business days, the winner’s prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be selected.
