Miller Leonard Criminal Justice Reform Scholarship

In the 2018 midterm elections there were a host of criminal justice reforms on ballots across the country. Issues ranged from Felony Re-Enfranchisement in Florida, to Non-Unanimous Juries in Louisiana, Drug Crimes Sentencing in Ohio, and even Slavery in Colorado.

As a criminal defense lawyer I see the good and the bad of our criminal justice system each and every day. As Americans, it is our duty to continually question whether our laws can be improved in order to create a more just system for all people. And as aspiring lawyers and legal professionals, you bear this burden even more than others.

Scholarship Contest Overview
We are asking students to write an essay in which they answer the question:
What is the single most important reform that ought to be made to the United States criminal justice system?
