Cherepinskiy Law Firm Scholarship

GENERAL INFORMATION
Cherepinskiy Law Firm, PC offers its annual Legal Scholarship to both (1) undergraduate students who intend to become lawyers and pursue a legal career and (2) law school students. The annual scholarship fund is $2,000, which is awarded as follows:

$1,000 – to one selected undergraduate (university / college) student and
$1,000 – to one selected law school student.

DEADLINES
The application period is August 3, 2020 – October 26, 2020. Applications submitted prior to August 3rd or after October 26th – will not be considered.

The last day to submit applications for the 2020–2021 school year is October 26, 2020.
Scholarship recipients will be notified of their selection by November 24, 2020.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The scholarship awards can be used exclusively for tuition and education-related expenses (e.g. textbooks, case books, supplies, etc.) Scholarship awards are not paid directly to recipients. Cherepinskiy Law Firm distributes annual scholarship funds as follows:

Undergraduate students: The recipient of the scholarship award will receive a check in the amount of $1,000, which will be made payable directly to the recipient’s undergraduate educational institution (university or college)

Law School students: The recipient of the scholarship award will receive a check in the amount of $1,000, which will be made payable directly to the recipient’s law school.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the eligibility requirements, every applicant has to satisfy the following criteria:

Each applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (“green card” holder)
Each applicant must be:
currently enrolled in an accredited university / college or law school or
about to start an accredited university / college or law school (applicants must be ready to provide proof of acceptance / admission)
Each applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 at the minimum.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
1. Electronic Application

Cherepinskiy Law Firm will only consider applications submitted electronically on this page.

2. Essay

The length of the essay must be 500 to 1,000 words.

While there is no specific topic or format for the essay, applicants are encouraged to go beyond summarizing their resumes and/or reiterating their interest in pursuing a legal career. Instead, Cherepinskiy Law Firm is interested in learning about applicants’ experiences, interests, and activities that would bring their own clear and unique perspective to the legal profession.

3. Academic Transcript

If you have been enrolled at an accredited university / college or law school for at least one semester / quarter, submit the latest / most current transcript.
If you are about to start or have just started attending an accredited university / college or law school as a first-year student, submit your high school transcript (undergraduate students) or college transcript (law school students)
4. Proof of Acceptance / Admission

This requirement applies only to newly admitted (first-year) students. Please submit a letter of admission or acceptance from the accredited university/college or law school that you will be attending or have just started attending as a first-year student. If you have been admitted at multiple educational institutions, it is sufficient to provide proof of admission to only of them (preferably, the one you are most likely to choose).

5. Letter of Recommendation

Please submit one letter of recommendation from any person who is not your spouse, relative or friend and who can attest to your qualifications. Examples of individuals who can potentially provide such a letter include the following:
Teachers
Professors
Employers / supervisors
Please note: Applicants do not have to provide their proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency with their applications. Once the review process is completed, before the scholarship checks are issued, selected recipients will have to verify their U.S. citizenship or permanent residency with applicable document(s) (e.g. U.S. passport, birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, or permanent residence card / “green card”).
