Justice for Victims Scholarship

The team at the Butler Law Firm is dedicated to standing up for the rights of injured people and their families. We do this by fiercely going toe-to-toe with powerful defendants and their insurance companies. We do this to make sure that our clients and their families get the compensation that is their right and that they deserve to get. We believe that when we are able to hold negligent, malicious or reckless people and entities accountable for their wrongdoings in a court of law, it is not only good for their victims and their families, it ultimately helps to make our community better than it was before.

We know that money cannot take back the pain, suffering and damage that has already been caused for our clients and their families but we hope that the financial relief it provides will make getting back on their feet and past their tragedy, a little bit easier. We also know that penalizing those who have caused an injury or death sends a message to the defendant and society at large that bad behavior has serious consequences. We hope that doing this will prevent them and others from causing innocent people harm in the future.

We want to help the education of a student who can demonstrate their commitment to helping others by offering our 2019 Justice for Victims Scholarship. We believe that there are many different ways victims can be helped that empowers and gives them justice.

Essay
Answer the following prompt and questions in an essay of 1,000 words or less:
Describe the situation that inspired you to help people, especially those who have been victims of injuries caused by other people, entities, or events such as, natural disasters, etc. This can be something that happened directly to you or someone you care about, or it can have happened to a person or a group of people you know about but do not know personally.

– What did you do to help those who inspired you? Did this improve their situation?
– How was your desire and ability to help those who inspired you, demonstrated in what you did to help them?
– How does what you did demonstrate your commitment to helping people in the future?
– What are your academic goals and how to they tie in to enabling you help people when you have achieved them?

Eligibility Criteria
This scholarship is open to any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate or professional program in the United States. This includes accredited community college students, high school seniors, and students who possess a GED who have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited program.
The scholarship applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to helping people, especial injured victims, and be able to explain how their education goals will help them to be able to do this in the future
All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
