2019 Access to Education Scholarship

Getting into college can be one of the most exciting times in a person’s life. All too often that excitement is hindered by the financial burdens of tuition and costs associated with higher education. Connecticut Trial Firm is proud to extend a scholarship to a deserving student who is the first in their immediate family to go to college. Both Andrew Garza and Ryan McKeen, Partners of the firm, were the first in their families to attend a four-year college. It is important to the firm to support and encourage students who find themselves in the same position.

Our firm is proud to provide a $1,000 scholarship to a U.S. college student who produces the best essay on how our local and national governments can do more for the public education system. In a 750-word essay in 12-point Times New Roman font please give a thorough answer to the following question: As a first generation college student, what ways do you think the public education system can be improved so that more people have the chance to attend college?

Eligibility
We ask that all applicants meet the following requirements:

Be currently enrolled (or enrolled prior to the scholarship deadline) at an accredited institution, including with the intent to complete either a two- or four-year program at any junior college, community college, paralegal programs, undergraduate program, or graduate program anywhere in the United States
Be the first in your family to attend a four year college
Have good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA or above

Applications
A completed application for this scholarship must include the following:
A current resume
A current official or unofficial transcript from your most recent academic institution
A 750-word essay discussing how you think the public education system in the United States could do more for students to be able to attend a higher education institution

Submissions
All submissions are due by January 31, 2020. Please email your essays to info@cttrialfirm.com. Please have “Name of Applicant – 2019 Access to Education Scholarship” in the subject line with a copy of your essay, up-to-date transcript, and resume in the attachments.

Scholarship Award
The recipient of this award will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards any tuition, fees, books, and supply expenses at any post-secondary educational program or institution (including universities, community colleges, or vocational schools) that is intended to grant a degree or diploma. The post-secondary educational institution must be located within the United States of America, and the scholarship recipient must be accepted to attend that institution.
