Rise Up First-Generation Scholarship
Get support for your unprecedented achievement
No one in your family got to go to college—until you. We created our $5,000 Rise Up First Generation Scholarship to recognize students like you who will inspire generations to come.
To apply for this scholarship, first create a Course Hero account, then write a 500-word essay. The topic: examine a difficult decision made by a character from a movie or a book, and explain why you agree or disagree with it.
If your essay and application give you the winning edge, we’ll email you by August 3, 2020, 11:59 PM PST to let you know. The scholarship money will then be sent directly to your school and applied to your tuition.
Apply by July 3, 2020, 11:59 PM PST

One or more judges from Course Hero will read all the eligible contest entries and select the scholarship award recipients. The judge(s) will base their decision on your sincerity, creativity, thoughtfulness, and factual credibility, as well as your response to the following essay question: “Pick a movie or book where the lead character has to make a difficult decision. What about their decision was difficult? Why do you agree or disagree with the decision they made?”
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries and the quality of your response, as determined by the judge(s)
