Public Relations and Advertising Graduate Assistant - College of Communication
The Public Relations and Advertising (PRAD) graduate program is looking to hire two graduate assistants (GA) to work with the program for the 2020-2021 academic year. *One position will be a full year: Autumn 2020, Winter 2021 and Spring 2021. One position will be for Autumn 2020 and Winter 2021, with a possibility to renew for an additional quarter depending on funding and the needs of the program.
Selection will be based on a combination of interest, current GPA, fit, and seniority. Students must be in the PRAD MA program and be enrolled in at least 4 credit hours during each quarter of the assistantship. Preference will be given to students who do not have a full-time job commitment as the assistants will need to work during the day. Students must have completed at least 8 credit hours to be eligible to apply. Students who are full time employees of DePaul University are not eligible for this position.
The student selected will receive a tuition waiver in the amount of one, 4-hour graduate Communication course ($3,040 value) for each quarter they serve as graduate assistant, as well as a $1,400 monetary stipend during each quarter. The graduate assistant will work approximately 10 hours per week.

1. Full year position reporting to the Graduate Program Directors. This graduate assistant will work with program directors Dr. Sydney Dillard and Ron Culp, and PRAD faculty, as necessary, to assist with graduate program events, communication and research. During fall 2020, their main responsibility will be engaging with PRAD’s alumni community. For Winter and Spring 2021, they will be primarily responsible for the June 2021 ePortfolio Showcase event. In addition, they will also serve as the PRAD program graduate ambassador, present on prospective student information panels and communicate with prospective students about the PRAD graduate program and PRAD combined degree program. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Event planning and management experience, as well as expertise in research (primary and/or secondary) is strongly preferred.
2. Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 Position reporting to the Chair of the PRAD department.
The graduate assistant will support the chair, Dr. Maria De Moya, in administrative and research duties. More specifically, administrative duties include data entry, social media content creation, and event support. Research responsibilities include proof-reading, copy editing and secondary research. Experience in academic research and APA style is strongly preferred. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
