Chaddick Scholars Scholarship Program
These scholarships are awarded to students accepted into the Chaddick Scholars Program and complete the requirements by May 18, 2021. To be accepted into the Program, students must:
i) have a strong record of involvement in Chaddick events, study trips, and learning opportunities prior to submitting their application
ii) be a graduate student at DePaul in good academic standing.
Students generally need to have voluntarily attended at least four Institute events in the six months leading up to their application to be considered for the Program. Admission is competitive. Students who do not meet the criteria are welcome to reapply the following year.
To receive the scholarship, students accepted into the Program must complete these activities by May 18, 2020:
i) Attend two Chaddick Institute professional events.
ii) Attend one professional event on urban planning by an external organization approved by the Institute leadership.
iii) Attend a full-day or half-day Chaddick Institute study trip held in April or May 2021. This will be conducted virtually via Zoom if we are required to conduct events remotely.
iv) Provide a research presentation about research you have conducted in a DePaul class.
v) Take part in a Saturday field visit conducted virtually via Zoom to a neighborhood in metropolitan Chicago held exclusively for those in the Chaddick Scholars program in January or February 2021 as well as an after-work virtual networking event involving discussions with area leaders
vi) Volunteer four hours to support an institute event or research project.
Awards are made in late May with the minimum being $500.
Required essay: Submit a 300-word statement of explaining your interest in metropolitan development and your level of participation in Chaddick Institute events and programs to expand your understanding of metropolitan development.
