A Step Forward Scholarship

The decision to pursue post-secondary education is exciting, but we understand that this decision is more difficult for some. Not everyone has parents or siblings who’ve attended college to help guide them. Being the first in a household/family to attend college may come with a lot of pressure. The pressure to attend a certain school and to pursue a particular major. It also comes with high expectations and questions about how to pay for the education. With a lack of money and resources, individuals are less likely to pursue a degree.

This is why personal injury attorney Davis Haines has decided to offer A Step Forward Scholarship. This scholarship will award one student who is the first in their family to attend college with $1,000 to help them pursue their educational goals. It is our hope that this scholarship may ease some of the monetary burdens that come with attending school.

In a 750 – 1,000 word essay explain why continuing your education is important to you and some of the accomplishments you hope to achieve. Also, delve into the impact it will have on you and your family.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program within the United States
All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing, maintaining a cumulative average grade of a “B” (3.0 GPA.)
Scholarship candidates must be the first member of their family to attend college

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
A resume that includes academic, professional, and volunteer experience
The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, as well as the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students must also submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
A 750-1,000 word statement describing your educational goals and what it means to be the first in your family attend a college-level institute.

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND INSTRUCTIONS:
To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must email their full application (including the essay, resumé, and transcript) to info@houstoncarwrecklawyers.com by November 30, 2020. Any applications sent after this date will not be considered.
