Drs. Andrew S. Perez and Bobbie C. Murphy Anthony-Perez Endowed Award

From Macon, Ga., Bobbie Cotton Murphy Anthony-Perez earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematical sciences, as well as a master’s degree in psychology from DePaul University. She also attended the University of Illinois for an additional master’s degree and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Anthony-Perez accomplished much over the course of her career. She taught in the Chicago Public School system before becoming a professor at Chicago State University, where she was also the coordinator of the black studies program. In addition, she was president of Tuskegee Airmen Inc. from 1994-1995. Anthony-Perez contributed to many professional journals and books, and wrote features for various newsletters.

As a member of several professional groups, including the American Psychological Association, Community Mental Health Council and National Council of Teachers of Math, Anthony-Perez won numerous civic, educational and religious awards.

In appreciation of her DePaul education, Anthony-Perez established the Drs. Andrew S. Perez and Bobbie C. Murphy Anthony-Perez Endowed Award for psychology students in the College of Science and Health in 2009.
