Eldred C. Strobel
Eldred C. Strobel Endowed Scholarship
The Eldred C. Strobel Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of beloved School of Accountancy professor Eldred “El” C. Strobel in honor of his retirement in 1980. Strobel served as a member of DePaul’s faculty from 1946 to 1980 and chaired the accounting department from 1965 to 1978. He is credited with establishing many of the foundations of the School of Accountancy. Strobel helped expand the accounting department into the School of Accountancy, and he started the accounting honors program, which is named in his honor. Strobel also founded DePaul’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honors society, and, with alumni, helped create Ledger & Quill, one of the largest alumni accounting societies in the country.
