Emily Foley Mutz
Emily Foley Mutz Endowed Family Law Summer Service Award
Emily Foley Mutz embodied in so very many ways the essence of what the Schiller DuCanto and Fleck Family Law Center is all about. Emily was a wonderful, beautiful woman whose love of family and strong commitment to serving children and other women was truly inspiring. Emily brought to DePaul University’s family law program her enthusiasm, intelligence, years of family experience, irreverent sense of humor and an extraordinarily warm heart.
In the short time Emily was a student at the DePaul College of Law, she became a leader and role model for so many of her fellow family law students. Emily was deeply committed to the center’s work and was excited about the opportunity to help children and women in need.
Emily inspired all who knew her. The DePaul family law students who knew Emily suggested that the very best way to remember her passion for serving families was through a Family Law Summer Service Award in Emily’s name. Emily’s children—Sarah, Becky, Tom, Andy, Coley, Will and Nora — kicked off the initial donation to fund the Emily Foley Mutz Endowed Family Law Summer Service Award.
Since Emily’s death in 2003, many others who are in interested in assisting underserved children and families, as well as those who want to do something to cherish Emily’s memory, have joined with her children and family to contribute to this important service award fund in Emily’s name.
