Nancy Rick-Janis

Angel Butron, Sr. and Nancy Rick-Janis Endowed Scholarship

Nancy Rick-Janis cared deeply for those closest to her, for her community, and about our most pressing societal issues. She believed that there was work to be done in every community that could improve the lives of people everywhere – and that everyone has a responsibility to do their part. As a nurse, she worked to help those at their darkest hour recover and to give peace of mind to their loved ones. As a nursing educator, she trained hundreds on how to provide care for countless thousands. As a nurse at Copley and University of Illinois Hospital, an intellectual with graduate research that developed the concept of Competency Based Nursing Education, and as an MBA graduate from DePaul, Nancy understood the value of and the growing need for highly skilled nurses. Her husband Bob, and her family and friends, are honored to support nursing students who will go into the world to provide the same level of compassionate care in her memory.
