Journalism Internship Scholarship Application

The Journalism Internship Scholarship supports journalism majors, minors, and journalism graduate students pursing an internship in the journalism field with tuition assistance.

Students who have already secured an approved internship for credit or plan to participate in an approved internship for credit in the Winter 2020 term through the College of Communication Internship Program are eligible to apply. Applicants should either secure internship approval or have submitted an internship proposal to the College of Communication Internship Program by January 15, 2020 (Extended from January 9). Internship approval will be confirmed prior to award consideration.

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for undergraduate journalism majors or minors; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for journalism graduate students
  • Successful completion of at least two JOUR courses

Special consideration for those with unpaid or low-paying internships. Applicants with approved internships will be prioritized over those with internships in the development/approval stages. Applicants with pending internship approval will still be considered once the internship is approved and enrollment in the appropriate course is complete. Applicants will be assessed based on the quality and relevance of the internship, the impact on professional and career development, and what the applicant hopes to learn in relation to the journalism field and career goals.

Award amounts vary, from $1200 to $2500, based on strength of application and available funding.
