Graduate Assistant Position Call (Summer Quarter 2023)

Position Description:
This graduate assistantship position will support the assistant dean with digital content creation and management to align with college strategic goals, DePaul’s brand and editorial standards, and website/social media best practices. The scope of the position includes writing, editing, producing, and managing digital content for the college’s website, social media, YouTube channel, and digital signage. Specific responsibilities will shift with varying projects and priorities.
The graduate assistantship position is hybrid, with some on-campus presence and participation in some meetings and events expected. Candidates must be active students pursuing a graduate program in the College of Communication during the 2023-2024 academic year and in good academic standing. The assistantship position is an academic year commitment, pending a successful performance review each term to continue through to subsequent terms. Full-time DePaul employees are not eligible for this graduate assistantship.

The graduate assistant will be called on to assist with various duties, including:
• Creating content and helping to manage the college’s social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook).
• Assisting with college website and intranet resource site content management; includes drafting, editing and/or updating copy; broken links, updating directories, and managing website photos/graphics.
• Writing content appropriate for digital platforms; ranging from captions, copy to accompany graphics, articles/short features, etc., for the college website and for college/university digital and print publications.
• Creating and/or editing graphics for use on digital platforms with Canva.
• Capturing photos for use with various platforms; editing photos in Photoshop. Videography a plus.
• Brainstorming/proposing initiatives that support college goals.
• Supporting the assistant dean with administrative projects, e.g., digital content organization, data management, analysis, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
• Basic social media skills (content creation, scheduling, posting).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (writing, editing).
• Basic graphic design skills; Canva and Photoshop experience preferred.
• Experience with managing website content; SharePoint experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities as needed.
• Must be self-directed and able work independently, with direction and feedback provided by supervisor.
• Timeliness in response to supervisor and colleagues.

Compensation:

Compensation for the graduate assistantship is a one-course tuition scholarship per quarter ($3160) and a $3120 stipend per quarter for 20 hours of work per week. Availability to work between quarters (summer, intersession, spring break) is desired, compensated at an hourly rate of $17.30 for up to 20 hours per week, beginning in summer 2023.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Candidates must be pursuing a master’s degree in the College of Communication and in good standing.
• Candidates must have a 3.5 or above cumulative GPA.
• Candidates must be registered for at least one course in each of the fall, winter, and spring terms of the 2023-2024 academic year while serving as a graduate assistant.
Additional Stipulations
• DePaul employees are not eligible for this assistantship.
• Scholarship and stipend awards are paid for time worked only; assistantship compensation, both scholarship and stipend, will be adjusted to reflect actual time worked if minimum work hours are not met.
• Withdrawal from courses will result in the graduate assistant’s full responsibility for any tuition balance at the time of withdrawal and forfeiture of remaining stipend.

Award
