Brandy Austin Law Scholarship
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
This scholarship is open to any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in the United States. This includes accredited community college students, and high school seniors (and students who possess a GED) that have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited program.
The scholarship applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to promoting social justice by past and present personal, volunteer, professional and/or educational experiences.
All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Essay Prompts
In a 500-1,000 word essay, please answer all 3 below prompts.
Choose a 2024 Supreme Court ruling that you think will have a significant impact on the future. Describe the case in your own words, explain why you believe it’s important, and share your thoughts on how it could affect people’s daily lives.
Describe an experience or event that motivated you to advocate for others. How has it influenced your perspective on fairness and justice, and what values do you carry forward because of it?
Identify a social or community issue that you care deeply about. What are some ways that people can come together to create positive change, and how would you contribute to that effort?
