BSP Law Charitable Foundation Joel Stern Scholarship
In recognition of Joel’s continued passion and leadership in the effort to create and advance
diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession, the Joel Stern Scholarship seeks to provide
financial support to students who contribute to the diversity of their law school student body as
they pursue their legal career.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Joel Stern Scholarship, you must fit the below criteria:
Current law student enrolled and in good standing at a law school
Like Joel Stern, candidate must demonstrate extraordinary commitment and dedication to
diversity, equity, and inclusion through volunteer work, charity, mentorship, etc.

Essays
In addition to qualifying for the eligibility requirements listed on the first page, interested
applicants must submit an essay answering the following questions. Please keep each essay
response to a maximum of 300 words (total maximum words for all 3 questions is 900).
How can we work towards a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal community?
Describe your involvement in your community through charity or volunteer work to
advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Why do you believe you are a qualified candidate for the Joel Stern scholarship?

Interested applicants must submit an essay answering the above essay prompts and submit to
scholarship@bsplaw.com by 11:59 PM ET on Friday, February 14, 2025. Please no calls.
All submissions must follow the below formatting:
Questions must be included in your response, and bolded. (Questions do not count towards
the word maximum for the response.)

Text must be justified and double spaced.
Essays must be submitted in a PDF. No other formats will be accepted.
