Essay Topic and Submission Guidelines
A 500-1,000 word essay about “Standing Up for What’s Right”
Reflect on a time when you stood up for what you believed was right, even in the face of challenges. Describe the situation, what actions you took, and the impact it had on your life and perspective. Share a personal and meaningful perspective on advocacy and justice.
For your submission, please:
Include your full name and an essay title
Write between 500 – 1,000 words (quality over quantity!)
Attach your essay as a PDF, txt, doc, or docx file
Submit by Wednesday, April 16, 2025
One winner will be selected based on the quality of the essay and adherence to the submission guidelines. The winning essay should be well-written, grammatically correct, and offer a unique and personal perspective on the topic. Any accepted style (AP, MLA, Chicago, etc.) is allowed.
Scholarship Eligibility
To apply for the Combs Waterkotte Q1 2025 scholarship, please send the following to combswaterkottescholarship@gmail.com by April 16, 2025 at 11:59 pm Central Time:
A college transcript (unofficial is acceptable) or an enrollment letter
Your essay
Your contact information
Your student number this will be used to verify your enrollment
Your school’s financial aid office information, including address and phone number
A resume or brief biography
We encourage applications from non-traditional and underrepresented students. As the scholarship funds will be sent directly to the winner’s school, we require proof of enrollment. High school students or adults planning to attend college or trade school but not yet enrolled are welcome to check back for future opportunities.
