Professor Ballenger Endowed Scholarship in Women's Studies

The Ballenger Memorial Scholarship Fund was established on 2001 with a legacy from the last Dally Ballenger, who taught in and chaired the Department of Nursing at DePaul University. She was one of the founders of the Women’s Studies Program and remained active in and committed to Women’s Studies until her retirement from the University.

Undergraduate students must be pursuing a major, double major or minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. Graduate students completing the MA or MA/MSW in Women’s and Gender Studies, and graduate certificate students with a concentration in Women’s and Gender Studies also are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed at least two quarters of study at DePaul at the time of application and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. As the award is selected for the following academic year, the students must be enrolled as a WGS major, double major, minor or MA, MA/MSW in the fall quarter following the selection. If a student does not meet the criteria at the time of the award, they will not be awarded and the offered will be rescinded.

Selection criteria include: commitment to Women’s and Gender Studies as an academic field, community activism and leadership related to social justice.
