College of Education Graduate Assistant Application - Assessment & Data Systems

Graduate assistantships (GA) are fully in-person, on-campus opportunities for qualified students (Master’s and Doctoral) to work closely with College of Education (COE) faculty, staff, and students to support ongoing research efforts, operations of the college, to engage in ongoing conversations regarding educational issues and research with faculty, staff, and other student colleagues, and assist with other duties as assigned by their hiring unit.

The COE offers graduate assistantships, each of which provides up to a full, one academic year, tuition waiver of six graduate-level 4-credit hour courses required for the degree (excludes all fees) and an annual academic year stipend of up to $8,525.00. In addition, DePaul offers student health insurance and various types of leave.​ These benefits, in addition to comprehensive fees and u-pass fees, are not covered by the graduate assistantship.

You must apply separately to each department/program you are interested in working with. Graduate Assistant applicants are interviewed and appointed directly by each individual hiring area in the College of Education. Applicants are typically contacted for follow-up mid-May to mid-June. Official offers extended in August.

Please note that COE GA spots can be for full-time or part-time positions.
Typical full-time hours requirements are 20 hours/week Fall through Spring quarters, including student/course break periods when university offices are still open.

The part-time Assessment & Data Systems GA position supports the Assistant Dean for Assessment, Planning & Effectiveness and Student & Faculty Records Specialist by contributing to the design and implementation of key assessment, technology, and data systems initiatives aimed at enhancing the College of Education’s academic and operational excellence. This position offers a unique opportunity for a graduate student to gain hands-on experience in data science, assessment and evaluation, strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, leadership/administration, and technology-enabled project management. This role is ideal for a graduate student who is passionate about data-driven decision-making, technology-enhanced processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the student experience, academic programs, and institutional processes within the College of Education. The successful candidate will gain valuable skills in project management, data analysis, report writing, and software support, all while advancing the college’s mission and goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designing, configuring, and maintaining Smartsheet solutions to support project management, assessment tracking, and data reporting across programs.
  • Developing dynamic and interactive dashboards, automated reports, and templates to enhance the accessibility and usability of data for the COE community.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Developing and implementing assessment tools, surveys, and technology-based reporting systems.
  • Supporting the coordination, tracking, and reporting of strategic planning initiatives within the college.
  • Creating, maintaining, and documenting assessment and planning processes and workflows.
  • Monitoring progress and reporting on college goals and objectives, providing insights through data visualization and technology tools.
  • Coordinating and attending assessment-related meetings, providing technology support as needed.
  • Handling confidential and sensitive data with ethics and integrity.
  • Supporting special projects as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Student & Faculty Records Specialist, including technology-enabled initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Smartsheet or other project management and data visualization software.
  • Strong data analysis, reporting, and visualization skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Interest in leveraging technology to streamline processes and support organizational goals.
