University Center Scholarship

The University Center of Lake County offers scholarships to students pursuing higher education through one of our member institutions during the 2026 – 2027 academic year. Applicants will be evaluated on the following areas: academic record, financial need, service to community, school activities, letters of recommendation, and response to the essay question.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for a University Center of Lake County scholarship, you must meet the
following criteria:
• Accepted into a University Center Member’s University Undergraduate or Graduate program offered at or through the University Center.
• Submit a 300–500-word essay telling us about yourself and describing why you are returning to school, describing your future goals, leadership, community service, and what it means to be a University Center student.
• Must be available to participate in University Center outreach activities.
• Provide two letters of recommendation- These letters should be typed on letterhead stationery, signed, dated within the current academic year and included with the application packet.
• Reside or work in Lake County.
• Include the most recent college transcripts.
• GPA must be between 2.50 and 4.00.

How to Apply
To apply, please do as follows:
1. Download Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship Application from www.ucenter.org.
2. Fully complete the application, attach required documents, and scan as a PDF.
3. Send Transcripts.
4. Proof of admission to the University Center Council Member university of your choice.
5. Submit ONLY two typed letters of recommendations provided by people not related to the applicant on letterhead, with an original signature, and dated within the current academic year. Letters not to exceed one page.
6. Submit a 300–500-word essay telling us about yourself and describing why you are returning to school, describing your future goals, leadership, community service, and what it means to be a University Center student.
