J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Hospitality Scholarship for Undergraduate Freshmen

Awarded to deserving freshmen undergraduates enrolled as majors or minors (or intended) in the School of Hospitality Leadership.

Through a recently establish partnership between DePaul University and the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, the DePaul University School of Hospitality Leadership is now accepting applications for the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Hospitality Scholarship. A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded with a value of $10,000 each.

This scholarship was designed to assist in the recruitment and development of DePaul University Freshman into a major or minor in the School of Hospitality Leadership. A freshman is an enrolled student that has no more than 48 credits on their official DePaul University transcript. Priority is given to those students who are the first in their immediate family to attend college and who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Additionally, scholarship recipients are chosen based on demonstrated financial need, a desire to participate in a co-curricular student activity, such as belonging to hospitality clubs, and having a full or part time job in the hospitality industry. If awarded the scholarship, funds are paid to the student in a $5000 installment during the freshman year, and a second and final installment during the sophomore year, pending continued commitment to the School of Hospitality Leadership.

The scholarship application deadline for online submission is October 8, 2014 at 11:59:59 PM CST. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.

Scholarship Requirements:

To apply for this scholarship complete and submit the following:
• Completed online application form;
• Current resume;
• Maximum 2 page essay (double-spaced, 12pt font, 1-inch margin pages) explaining why you feel you meet the scholarship recipient selection criteria.

Additional Information:
In addition to a $10,000 scholarship, award recipients will be automatically enrolled in the prestigious Marriott Hospitality Scholars Program (MHSP), and will be recognized as a “Marriott Scholar.” Benefits of being enrolled in the MHSP include, but are not limited to, the following:
