DePaul Community Service Scholarship Application

YOU MUST BE AT CURRENT FRESHMAN STATUS FOR THE 2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR/RISING SOPHOMORE FOR THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP.
The deadline for application submission online must be no later than April 20th, 2020 at 11:59:59 PM Central Standard Time.

The Community Service Scholarship is awarded to current freshmen students (rising sophomores for the fall quarter of 2020) who have an exceptional record of community service and are committed to becoming socially engaged leaders as DePaul students and professionals. Recipients are required to declare and complete the community service studies academic minor, participate in at least 30 hours of community service each quarter, attend quarterly service learning/community engagement workshops, participate in a 100-hour internship for one quarter, and meet with the program coordinators for advising and mentoring throughout the duration of their commitment to the CSS program.
To be considered, students must demonstrate an exceptional commitment to service and social engagement as exemplified by their previous service record, ability to integrate service with their academic and professional goals as well as convey a deep understanding of service and how it relates to community and larger social issues.

As financial need is a consideration, we strongly encourage you to file the FAFSA, if applicable. The FAFSA can be filed as soon as possible after October 1st, 2019.

Scholars who are selected must agree to the following terms:​

  • Be a full-time student (complete at least 36 quarter hours each academic year).
  • Maintain a 2.7 cumulative G.P.A. (calculated at the end of the academic year).
  • Enroll in the Community Service Studies minor.
  • Complete a total of 30 hours of service per quarter for a total of 12 quarters.
  • Maintain contact with the Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning.
